In the W1 app
On iPhone or Android, open Settings โ W1 Account โ Delete account, then confirm. The same button appears before your account has a cloud machine, so you can delete an account that never got one.
Deletion starts the moment you confirm, and the phone signs out.
On the web, without the app
- Go to app.w1lab.com/account/delete.
- Sign in with the account you want to delete.
- The page shows what is deleted and what is kept before anything happens. Press Delete my account to confirm.
By email
Write to support@w1lab.com from the email address you sign in with and ask us to delete your account. Sending it from that address is how we match the request to your account. We complete email requests within 30 days and reply when it is done.
What is deleted
- Your profile, public handle and referral code.
- Your sign-in identity, so the same email address can later start a new, empty account.
- Every session, on the desktop app, VS Code, the CLI and the phone.
- Your cloud machine and its disk, with the projects and threads on it.
- Your usage history, any run traces you uploaded, and support screenshots.
- Referral records that are yours. Anything a friend already earned through your link stays theirs.
- Artifacts you published at artifacts.w1lab.com.
- Any early-access sign-up you made on the website.
- Your billing records. A paid subscription is cancelled at Payfast first, so nothing is charged after deletion.
What is kept, and why
- If you paid: the minimum invoice record of each payment (amount, date, plan and Payfast reference), kept for 5 years because South African tax law requires it. It carries no name, email address or account. Payfast keeps its own record of the payment.
- Aggregate numbers, such as how many people used W1 in a week, which cannot be tied back to you.
- If you unsubscribed from email: a one-way hash of your address, so we never email it again.
- A deletion marker: the deleted account's internal id, with no name or email, kept for 400 days so the account cannot be signed back into.
How long it takes
- In the app or on the web: the account is locked as soon as you confirm, and nothing can sign into it again. The data above is removed straight away. If a service W1 relies on (payments, hosting or sign-in) is briefly unavailable, W1 retries every 15 minutes until the deletion is complete, usually within the hour. You do not need to do anything.
- By email: within 30 days of your request.
Deletion cannot be undone.
On your own devices
Deleting your account removes what W1 holds on its servers and your cloud machine. It does not reach into your own computer or phone.
- Desktop app: your conversation history and run traces live under
~/.w1on your computer. Remove them with Settings โ Remove W1 data, or by deleting the~/.w1folder. - Phone: uninstall the W1 app to remove what it kept on the device.
Read the Privacy Policy for everything W1 processes, or email support@w1lab.com with any question about deletion.
